Mark Bacon & Donald Crerar are the founders of Bacon & Crerar, and have known each other since they were children. They decided to create a company based on their values of craft, skill, innovation, respect and trust.
Company co-founder Mark has been a carpenter and joiner for 18 years and served his apprenticeship with a long-established company local to the village of Comrie where he grew up.
He was lucky enough to be taught by members of arguably “the last generation of old school joiners” so in the beginning he learned things the traditional way before moving on to the modern methods as his apprenticeship progressed. This training has given him the skills you will see on every project he works on, where he blends the old skills with new, more innovative ideas.
“I personally enjoy the challenges of renovations and extensions - breathing in new life and adding to the story of an old building, and my favourite part of the job is getting to be a part of a transformation from what the client originally had, to exactly what they wanted.”
Mark lives in the village of Comrie with his wife Terri-Louise and his two children Robert and William.
Donald is a co-founder of Bacon & Crerar and has been a skilled carpenter and joiner for 10 years.
He learnt his trade with a well-established local business in Comrie as well as at the knee of his father, who is also a talented joiner by trade. Donald spent many of his younger days with his father whilst he renovated homes. That knowledge is now in each project that Donald works on at Bacon & Crerar.
“My favourite type of work is home renovations and extensions that bring life back to old homes. I get great satisfaction when we have completed a project and the client is delighted with the work we have done; there is no better acknowledgement for our hard work.”
Donald lives in the village of Comrie with his partner Emma and son Donald Jr.
